Iliya and Mireille YES vs. Iliya and Mireille NO

Is it strange to have twins with names from their different heritages? Should twin names match? Should the first names be from one heritage and middle names from the other? Any advice you can give would be great. Thanks.

Hmm, I'd never thought about that. I think names from your heritage would be great. And lots of people have heritage from more than one place so it shouldn't be strange. But we do tend to think of names in a family being somewhat similar.
I like Mireille. I'm not sure how to say Iliya- is it the same as (male) Ilya (ILL-ee-uh)? I would say that I like both names being either gender-specific or gender-neutral, but differing backgrounds or styles would be fine.
Sometimes I suggest that if the surname will be dad's, choose a first name that reflects mom's heritage. But that's just a suggestion.

I think names that are different especially twins are best.

I prefer similar styles. I like a certain cohesiveness for siblings.

I like Mireille but I would probably pair it with a French name and put Iliya in the middle spot.

Basically, my personal preference would be to have one heritage for the first name and choose middle names from the other culture.

^ forgot to mention that it really does depend on the names and how different they are. I find Iliya and Mireille a little too different for my taste but other people may not.

Names shouldn't be close because when a parent is trying to yell for the child it would be a bit confusing. Plus children are different they don't need similar names to have something in common.

^ @Bethany - "similar" is quite different from "matchy". I prefer sibling names to sound in harmony with each other. To each their own.

I think names of different styles or from different backgrounds is fine. For twins, I do prefer the names to be sex-specific but that's just my own personal preference.

Is it time for a diaper change Genevieve? You are awful cranky.

That old bat Ginny is even crankier when she's not commenting as "Genevieve" 🤫

Hint - she's always picking a fight somewhere
