Opinions on vs. Boy Names
So I was going through the new 2024 popularity numbers for inspiration and I found a few interesting ones on the rising popularity list. These are the ones my partner is open to. Truce (never thought of it as a name before but it's nice), Darwin (it's rising but I've heard it called old fashioned), Cedric (too Harry Potter?), Dalton and Sterling.

From those the only ones worth considering are Cedric and maybe Sterling.

Truce - I'm not a fan of words as names but it's not awful. Reminds me of Haven.
Darwin - reminds me of Charles Darwin. Not my cup of tea but to each their own.
Cedric - great classic name. I didn't know that it had a Harry Potter connection.
Dalton - nice. Prefer Dallas, Dillon.
Sterling - I really like Sterling!

I don't personally care for any of those, but they remind me of some names I like better...Truett, Edwin, Cyril, and Sylvan.

These names aren't my style but I think Sterling is tolerable.

Truce - a noun that essentially refers to a ceasefire between enemies or opponents. I don't think it proper as a name.
Darwin - the connection to "Darwinism" would likely provoke teasing.
Cedric - I don't mind this at all and I was unfamiliar with its Harry Potter connection.
Dalton - a unit of measurement used in Chemistry, for one. Also the name of a notorious prep school for boys in NYC.
Sterling - a celebrity baby name and I'm usually against using them.
In my opinion, Cedric is the clear winner on your list!

None of those names are my style, but if I had to vote it would be for Cedric.

Sterling is my favorite! It reminds me of author Sterling North that wrote the classic, Rascal, among others.

I like Sterling and maybe Dalton. To me, Cedric is stuffy (never read HP so it might be completely a different vibe to others?), Darwin is controversial (theory of evolution), and Truce is just odd. It doesn't really mean a true peace but more like a ceasefire, a stopping of hostilities. I think something like Truth would work better than Truce.

Truce - another random word name people picked up for their need to be different.
Darwin - normal enough just a little old fashioned for me.
Cedric - kinda same as Darwin
Dalton - hick name, coming from a southerner
Sterling - my favorite on your list
