Max vs. Maxwell vs. Maximilian
Which version of "Max" do you like? We want to call our son Max, but not sure if it's just too short. Were not sure if we maybe want something with a little more substance….Is just Max fine or would you pick a longer name? Are there any other full name options that were missing?

While Maxwell would be my favourite, I have also heard Max as a nickname for Maxim, Maximus, and Maddox.

I like Maxwell nn Max but I think Max is strong enough to stand on its own if you're leaning in that direction.
Max is fine as a standalone name.
Personally, I prefer a full name but that just my personal taste. I think Maxwell or Maximilian would give your son another option when he grows up. I voted for Maxwell.

I'd go with Maxwell. Max works as a stand-alone but imo it sounds more like a boy's name and less like a man's name. I think I'd be more versatile to name him Maxwell and always call him Max. I don't like Maximilian one bit. The sugguestion of Maddox another commenter made is intriguing to me.
