Caterina vs. Italian version of vs. Catherine?
I really love this name and My husband is italian. Now, there are 2 other versions that are similar, Katerina, and Katarina. But with all the research I have done, I feel like the C version is the true Italian spelling. My husband was born and raised in the USA, so he's not worried about the spelling. I am. Lol.

Caterina is the Italian spelling and it's really stunning so I think you should use it.
Caterina is the Italian spelling; however, you're probably thinking of Katerina which is the "Late Roman" spelling. I prefer Caterina.
OP, I did a little research myself because Italian doesn't have a "K" in their alphabet.
"The letter K was not part of the original alphabet but was added later as a way to make Latin look more Greek (bearing in mind that in classical times the Greek language was the language of culture). Essentially when Latin borrowed Greek words, they would be spelled with a K instead of a C".
So Caterina is the most authentic Italian spelling.

So Caterina is the most authentic Italian spelling.
^ No one is disputing that Catarina isn't the authentic Italian spelling. "Late Roman" refers to the empire, which spread across many countries and its inhabitants spoke several languages.
I like Catarina and I love Cat as a nickname.

Absolutely Caterina is authentically Italian. I had a great aunt Caterina who went by Ina for short.
