Lola vs. Lina vs. Lolly

What nickname for Caroline Olivia works/sounds best? I have a great gma Lola that I think would be cool to honor if it made sense! If that's too disconnected I would also call her Lina maybe? But do I need a C nickname like Callie? There's another Callie on my husbands side so I'm trying to avoid that. I usually love vintagy nicknames like Lottie or Polly. Would Lolly be too weird? haha. I'm open to other suggestions. Most of the time I'll just introduce her as Caroline!

Caroline Olivia, nn Lola, gmv. Lovely and very meaningful.

Just my two cents, but nns are for whimsey and affection. They don't need to be scientifically drawn from a full name. Caroline Olivia, nn Twinkle Toes, makes sense to me.

So Lola? Heck yeah. Not only can I see it coming from Caroline, but when you then tell me it's your great grandmother's name I can feel it as well. Good luck! :0)

Sorry, I may get a lot of heat for this (whoops) but I don't see how Lola, Lina or Lolly are nick names for Caroline. I am a stickler for nick names that make sense. If Caroline is pronounced as "line" and not "leen", how does Lina work? Is it Line-ah or Lee-nah?

I love Lola & Lina (lee-nah) so why not use them as a stand alone name? Lola Caroline to honour your great grandmother would be lovely. Lina Caroline too.

To me, names like Carol, Carrie, Carolie and even Carly make more sense for Caroline.

Anyways, wish you the best.

Since Lola would be an honor name, it gets my vote.

Caro is another option that hasn't been mentioned.

I have a friend named Evangeline and we call her Lina/Lena (LEE-nuh) so that nn makes sense to me. And, like jupiter_sparkles, if there's a nn, I simply prefer for it to make sense.

Fwiw, the only Lolly I've known was an elderly woman and I know a Caro who's Mexican (this is a nn I've only seen used with Spanish-speaking individuals).

Caro is also used by English speakers in Britain as well.

^ Do you live in Great Britain, Genevieve? Because I don't believe you do. I am speaking from personal experience (my husband is Latino). I'm not reading off some naming website.

Caro? That's weird. I like Lina and nicknames don't have to make sense the letters are in there so it makes plenty sense to me.

^ I'm speaking from experience as well. Caro is also used as a nickname in England. I've known two women with it. I guess it's used in various countries.
