Iola means "violet" in Greek, I believe. It's also vintage whereas Isla is modern (and very trendy). I'm in the minority but I voted for Iola.

I voted for Isla. I know it's very trendy right now but I do know a sweet 90 something year old lady named Isla Merle. She goes by Merle because her father wanted to name her after his ex girlfriend! She didn't like that so went by Merle her middle name LOL. She was very happy and surprised to know that the name is popular now 😝
