Holly vs. Holland (Nn Holly)

I'm torn! I love Holland as a full name with a nickname Holly. I'd love her to have choices for what to go by. I also just really love the name Holly. (Live in US, possibly distant Dutch ancestors but not major, just love the name.)

As both a place name and a surname, I don't care for Holland. On the other hand, I think Holly is lovely. It reminds me of Audrey Hepburn's character in the classic movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's". One vote for Holly.

Holland seems more masculine

If you love both, pick Holland so she can have options as she gets older. I also like the spelling Hollyn so it doesn't get confusing with Holland the location.

As far as place names for girls I think Holland is a bit masculine sounding I think Holly is very feminine. Berlin to me would be feminine for a place name Sienna and Florence being places in Italy, with Veronica for Verona as well. Any ways their are plenty of place names that don't "read: as much as "places" while holding more true to feminine names. I love Holly though. Holly is cheerful and sweet yet punctual.
