I wouldn't use it myself but it's historically a masculine name so I see no reason not to try and reclaim it. I'm sure that's a minority view but think of all the masculine names that people are perfectly fine with bestowing on girls. If there's truly no "double standard", others will vocalize support for Vivian on a boy.

Vivian may have originated as a male name, but I'd never use Vivian for a boy. At least not for MY son because I find it rather feminine. But that's just me.

There's a bunch of traditionally masculine names that have been more commonly used for girls over the last hundred years, which I actually like on boys eg Kelley, Shannon etc - but Vivian is one I pesonally prefer on girls, I think names with that "ia" sound tend to feel more feminine

Dislike Vivian

I voted "yes".

If a girl can be named James, a boy can Vivian.

H-E-L-L NO! Vivian is too girly for a boy!

All the unisex names are too masculine for a girl but people use every one.
I think the older unisex names like Vivian are completely fine for girls but yes it's unisex. Lots of older men have the name. Which is completely fine. It's like Shelby. It's a grandpa name

Vivian has become feminine despite but that's me.

Names dont "become" feminine. This one is masculine, Vivienne is feminine. Like Erin and Aaron for lack of a better exame. In the Uk still occasionally see this on guys, see no reasen not to use it if you like it.

Sorry for the typos, typing too fast^

Why? I don't see why you would set your son up for bullying.

Unfortunately there is a double standard. You could go on principle and name him Vivian to fight the system, but he's the one who will be wearing the name. I wouldn't do that if it were my kid.

I agree with the first guest. No to Vivian for a boy in this day of age.

I would not use it where I live as here it is strictly a female name.

Girls are bullied for unisex names too.

I know lots of boys with unisex names like Mackenzie and Ashely who have never been bullied. Because they have boy names. Everyone gets along
