I don't think it's "dated" but I do prefer Alison spelled like so (as it's the form not derived from a surname).

I like Allison and I still think it's usable today. I don't see it as "dated". If you love the name, go for it.

I think Alice is more popular these days, but Allison is fine.

I agree with NameHog. I also prefer the Alison spelling; it's just prettier to me and feels more timeless some reason.

Alison is timeless!! I like this spelling the best, but Allison still works if you prefer :)
