I think it's fine as a nickname but not as a formal name.

My brother had a boy named Kipp in his class. There was an older boy on my bus route, named Trigg.

I don't care for the double p spelling of Kipp.
I do like Kip with one p.
I'd still like it even better as a nickname though.Always nice to have more than one option I think.
I've heard of Kipton as a unique full name for it or I suppose just about any K name would work.
(or a name where the C sounds like a K)
I had an Uncle who's real name was Clifford but but everyone who knew him called him Kip and no one ever seemed to think it was odd.
I've also heard of Kit as a nickname for Christopher so I suppose there's no reason Kip couldn't be as well.

No, not for a person, maybe for a pet.

In England, a kip is a short sleep or a bed.

The name of the frenemy character in an old tv show. Not something for a real person.

I love it as a nickname for Christopher or Caspian. It's a cute name; maybe a little too cute for a full name though. I do love it.
