With some finagling, such as through the use of nicknames, I think it COULD work (Thea & Dolly) but I wouldn't do so myself.

Yes, too close.
That said, my husband's brothers are Tom and Tim. Their personalities take over and the names don't really seem that close. I NEVER would have thought I'd react that way. So in the end if these are the names you love after trying other options, then go for it. As mentioned above, nns could help even more. Good luck! :0)
