A gadget is a TOOL — slang for stupid. You'd be setting her up for a lifetime of awful jokes. Pardon the pun but it's a dumb idea.

No problem! I totally understand where the apprehensiveness comes from. I like the way Gadget sounds (like Midge), but I can see where the meaning is too weird to use.

It makes me think of the clumsy cartoon detective, Inspector Gadget. I'm not a fan of the name for either gender or for a middle name.
