You're going to have that continual argument. It's unisex. Whatever you choose.

I've never understood moms who name their sons' Avery. Avery is such a soft, pretty name for a girl. It's my daughter's name.

Avery originates from the name Alfred, which is masculine. That's not in dispute. Bnog stans just can't seem to comprehend it.

All of the Avery's I know are boys but all the Avery's I've seen on TV were girls. I don't have a preference one way or another for this name.

I much prefer Avery for a boy just like I'd prefer Jordan on a boy. Averie and Jordyn, etc... for people to look at it and assume girl.

Whether people like it or not, Avery is predominantly a name for girls now. In the future, perhaps it will swing back to the boys side but who can predict for sure. Myself, I prefer it for a boy but my preference doesn't change reality.

Unisex for sure.

Whether people like it or not, Avery is 100% masculine, it is essentially the same name as Alfred. If people are too lazy or dumb to do basic research, its our daughters who suffer from this continuing passive aggressive anti-feminine campaign.

I went to school with a girl named Averi over 28 years ago. It's unisex! You people need to get over it.

"passive aggressive anti-feminine campaign." Exaggerating much? Girls are not teased or suffering by being given names, like Avery or Mackenzie. This is 2025, not 1950.
I've noticed it's only older generations that seem so strongly opinionated with the entire male vs. female names. Kids don't care unless YOU put it in their heads that it's a strictly "male or female" name. Then they go to school and make fun of their classmates for having a girl/boy name. Stop it. Be a better role model.

While yes it's used much more for girls in the US—it was still given to 1348 boys in the year 2024 (compared to 5632 girls) so it's not like it's unheard of for a boy, just more commonly used for a girl

Of course the lady would say not to use Avery for a boy because she used it for a girl. When it's still very much used for boys.

It is completely fine for a boy. It's tomboyish for a girl.
I've never met a girl Avery but I do know five boys named Avery.

Avery is such a handsome boy name. There's four that I know of with the name

Actually, since reading these polls for the last year gotta say that there does seem to be a a very real tendency to defeminize among certain groups. And a very delibertate tendency to attack those with differing opinions rather than come up with a decent argument of ones own. The fact that there are those who use boys names on girls is a given. Its also a fact that doing so does not make such names less masculine.

Avery - boy 100% masculine; never understood people using it on girls.

Ava/Avia/Avaya/Aviana - girl; plenty of girl options with a similar sound that doesn't use the masculine Avery.

If they wanted those other names you suggested then they would use them. Many people on here prefer unisex names.

See. No matter have many facts are laid out the bnoggers just refuse any course but willfully ignorance.

I love Avery for a boy. I hate it for a girl. Why do parents feel the need to put masculine names on their girls? We don't name boys Eleanor or Lisa but it's okay to name girls Avery and Jordan? I hope this boys-names-on-girls trend dies soon.
