Ailee vs. pronunciation
My husband and I really like the name Ailee, pronounced ’eye-lee’. Our only concern is that people will mispronounce it. What do you think? Do you like it, or do you know of any other spellings? Thanks, Deb!

I thought it was ay-lee, so yes, I think you’ll have pronuncaition issues. Maybe Islee? I don’t like the name though, sorry, too trendy and cutesy. Isla, nn Islee would be much better IMO. GL!!

I think its okay but it will most definitely have pn issues. It would probably actually get mispronounced more than it would be said correctly!

I would pronounce Ailee Ay-lee. I know a little girl named Isley, pronounced Eye-lee.

Well, I love it. It’s actually the same exact name that my husband and I have chosen and we will be pronouncing it "eye-lee" as well. I grew up with a unique spelling for my name, and even though I hated it growing up, I really appreciate it now that I’m older. I’m just stuck trying to find a middle name to go with it!

My grandfather’s name is Ailee Anne. The a in her first name is silent. It was chosen for its rarity. Pronunciation is problematic initially but is easily corrected. Now nearly 5, she was the first owner of that name. We just say that Ailee rhymes with smiley. It suits her so well!

In the post above, I should have said that hers was the first time any of my family and friends had heard of the name Ailee. I did not like for it to rhyme with Haley, so my daughter decided to have it pronounced with long I. It is a rare and lovely name.

U spelled it and pronounced the name wrong. 🙄 it's Aliee. Pronounced a-lee, the "I" is silent. Get it right or don't have a baby at all.🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I would have pronounced it as AY-lee without your pronunciation (like Aimee).
I think it’s pretty. Maybe Eilee would get the pronunciation you want... like Eileen.
