I don’t think of Brady as unisex. It’s a boy’s name! Sorry!

Why do so many people insist on taking any masculine name and trying to make it feminine! I feel sorry for all those boy Bradys out there having to deal with a girl with the same name. There are so many good girl’s names out there!

I was thinking Bradie .. wdyt?

I like Brady Elizabeth
Brady Katherine
Brady Alexis
Brady Joy
Brady Rebecca

If someone would suggest a girl name to me that not every other girl in the world has I’d pick one. But I can’t seem to find any names I like .. and every time I ask for suggestions its the same names over and over and over, I just want something different for my little girl, is that such a crime?
posted by Poster :: 16 years ago | report
Brady Erina is pretty! I think I like the normal spelling the best though

Just ignore the rude people pp! I agree it is hard to find a nice name these days that isnt totally overused
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
While you may want something different, think about her growing up and having that name the rest of her life. The Social Security site just updated their name list to the most popular in 2008. You can see all the way up to 1000 names. There has to be something beyond the first 200 most popular that you could like!

Thanks! It is hard! Even more so all the different names for girls are so out there .. and I don’t want that at all!
posted by Poster :: 16 years ago | report
I don’t think that poster was being rude--just honest! Isn’t that why you post a poll--to get the honest first instinct reactions about a name before you actually use it? She asked how we feel about the name!

Do you like any of these names on a girl

Blake
Evan
Landon
Tristan
Noah
Emerson
Carson

Or are you set on Brady?
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
pp about the SS site ... there are alot worse names people give their kids than a girl named Brady
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
I have to agree that Brady is very boy. Sorry! But if you like it, then you should use it. Maybe--Braydi, Braedi, Braedy, Bradie?
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
I know there are--I didn’t say they were all good ideas--I was just trying to point out that while there may be 50 or so names that are soooo overused, there are hundreds more that are pretty and underused without being weird.
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
I’m not 100% set on Brady, I do like Blake, Landon and Noah, even though of course some people will think those are also too unisex. .. Thanks!

I do appreciate everyone’s opinion, that’s why I did this. I knew some people weren’t going to like the name, most people on this site are totally against unisex names, just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.

I really like Landon and Noah on a girl :)

I saw the name Blakesley for a girl today. I thought it was kind of cute. What do you think--nn Blake?
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
I worry now about picking any name for my future son--I thought I would be safe with Landon or Noah, which are both on my list. This is getting ridiculous! I feel like any name I pick could be turned into a girl name!
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
Blakesley sounds kind of made up for my taste, thanks tho!

To anyone complaining about making a masculine name feminine. If you pick a name for your son and it says it could be either for a boy or a girl, what makes anyone think its more of a boys name than a girls name? Chances are nowadays there is going to be a girl somewhere down the line with his name, its inevitable!

I have a sister named Blakeley Shea- she is very beautiful and very feminine.
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
What about Skylar or Tyler? Both of those have become pretty girls’ names.
posted by guest :: 16 years ago | report
to your comment about finding a name that every girl doesnt have.....names are popular because they are good for girls!! the solution is not to pick a boys name!

What about Louise, Patsy, Georgia, Elenore, Carleen, I mean there is a big list of names that arent so popular these days!

My name is Blake and I am a woman. I hated it growing up (always wanted to be a Jennifer or Ashley) and still often get mail for Mr. Blake. But I never got teased about it. I love my name now. I think it is unique and beautiful.

If you like the name Brady, then use it. Doesn’t matter if it’s "supposed" to be a boys’ name.

I knew a girl named Justin and always thought that was really pretty.
