Scout: vs. first vs. middle

Hi- I want to name my daughter Scout, after Scout Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. I was wondering if her first name should be Scout or if I should go with a more sophisticated name like Elizabeth(a family name) or such as her fist and Scout as her middle name. That way, she has the option to go by her first name if she becomes a lawyer or something that would make the name Scout sound funny. We would just call her Scout- but then she just would have the option. What do you think? Scout as a first name or as a middle name? Also, could you suggest some first and middle names to go with it? To me, Scout does sound like a nickname. I think you should give her Elizabeth as the fn, and Scout as the mn, and just call her Scout. That way, you get to call her what you want, but she doesn’t get teased in school, plus she has the option of going by Elizabeth if she does choose a more serious career.

Ordinarily, I think you should name her first name what you intend to call her.

But, I can see the benefit of having Scout as a middle name. Plus, Elizabeth Scout Walker is gorgeous in that order. :)

agree with pp name is pretty. If you don’t like I think you should do a longer fn since Scout is so short.

I agree that Scout seems like a nn and should be used as a mn in this case; also agree with the pp that Elizabeth Scout Walker has a nice flow.

Elizabeth Scout Walker is pretty, but I personally love Olivia Scout Walker! So classic and adorable!
