Lana vs. Lanah

Hi again everyone! We are doing this again trying to make a final decision. So, we love the name Lana (LAWN-AH) but backwards it spells the word anal. Do you think its not a big deal & we should just keep Lana? Or is it a big deal & we need to change the spelling to Lanah? Our last name is 4 letters long and we like the matching number of letters in the first and last name. But not if you think she’ll get grief over it. Thanks so much for your help!

I would change it to Lanah--I love this spelling more anyways. Kids will find the anal part, trust me..some can be really rude. My mom’s initials growing up were ANL--she got a lot of teasing for that. GL!

Very cute name! Just to be on the safe side I would spell it Lanah, unless the matching 4 letter thing is really important to you! you could also do Alanna which is pretty too:)

Do you have a middle name yet?

Or you could do Lonna/Lanna--but I don’t think I would have noticed the anal thing if you hadn’t pointed it out. I do love Alanna!

I like the alternate spellings mentioned! The middle name we are thinking of using is Isabella. Thank you so much for your help!

I would spell it differently. I would pronounce Lana as a pp said rhymes with Hannah. I like the suggestion of Alannah as a fn. I think the suggestion of Lonna looks like a good way to spell it because it is similar to Donna, a name most people know how to pronounce. Maybe Lona?

I would keep it Lana...nobody has ever tried to spell my name backwards, and its fine! Lanah looks weird and contrived to me...

I honestly don’t think it matters what it’s spelled backward. Sinep is "[removed]" spelled backward, and that’s the name of a mustard brand. If you’re worried about that, though, I like the names Lonna and Alanna, too.
