Race vs. Neutral vs. Names

Hello, everyone my husband and I will be adopting an Ethiopian baby and bringing her home next month. We would like a first name that is more American yet not too "white" and we will give her an african middle name. Please suggest some first names for our baby girl that can be a race neutral name. I know it’s a difficult concept for some to grasp however it is very important when you adopt a child of a different race to give your child a race neutral name. Nothing "too black" nor "too white." I liked some suggestions I received earlier and will post them in the first concept. Thanks.

Weird, I’d just chose whatever name you love and give it to her regardless! I’m sure people are going to suggest things like Savannah or Kiara which is lame, to help you out I’d need to know your naming style first what names do you like so far and what are the MN ideas so that they can go together?

Well some of the names I do like are "too white" and the whole point is to try not to force either race upon our child. I have read many books on international adoption and this is a very important aspect of adoption.

Some may not understand because they are not going through this or know much about it... I expect that.

Have you decided on a middle name yet?
I’m just curious, because I used to live in Kenya, and I know some Ethiopians, and I was just wondering what name you picked.

Of yours I love Maya, Taylor, Elodie (Melody is even nicer!) and Kiera or Keira (like Keira Knightly). Out of those I would use Keira (or Kiera although I prefer Keira and it seems more in the middle to me). Maya would have to be my second choice followed by Taylor. It is good that you’ve made that consideration and I’m sure you’ll be well prepared for the arrival of your new daughter!

We haven’t decided on the middle name yet...
We were going to wait until we figured out the first name but suggestions would be great as well.
