Halo vs. ?
Hello everyone! I have a dilemma: I think that the word Halo would be adorable as a name for a little girl. The thing is, I’m not an overly religious person. The name itself, when you listen to the sound and not the actual meaning, feels quite spunky and cute, yet girly, to me. What are your opinions? And thanks so much!!
The Top Baby Name is...
Halo

No. It’s to Heavenly. It’s like naming your kid Heaven or Angel.
I can hear the kids now when she gets in trouble. Where’s you Halo now, Halo?

I do not like the name "Halo". I’m thinking about kids at school calling her "Hello", or teasing her because she’s named after a video game. Please, save her the trouble and use it as a middle name if you really like it.

Don\\\’t be a sheep like the rest of this flock that has commented. Popular or classic names are yawn-inducing and out of style. Halo is an awesome name and you will get compliments everywhere you go. Like any \\\"unique\\\" name a parent could dream up, Halo is becoming quite popular as a baby name, but at least it\\\’s not Hunter#1000, or Jayden, Ava, or Lily. My son is named Halo and he hasn\\\’t had a single problem in school or elsewhere with the name. Unlike Max 1, 2, and 3 in his class... Zzzzzzz.

My daughters name is Halo, shes 5 now and has neva been teased, only by those idiots who would find anything wrong with anyones name no matter what it is, (bitter adults) everytime we are out in public and i call out to her, people always comment on what a beautiful name she has, i luv it and it suits her becos she is gorgeous. As for the game... its world famous, how is that a bad thing, even tho she was not named Halo because of that game, i havent yet met anyone else named Halo. Also have daughter named Bowen and Laylah.

My name is Halo (Marie for a middle name). I’m 40. My married name is Golden. Only in the last few years have I even heard of someone else with Halo for a first name. (Halo for a boy still weirds me out a little. Sorry. It just seems like a fairly feminine name. Almost "A Boy Named Sue" territory, but that’s probably just because I’ve been the only Halo around—in my world—for 40 years. I do know of one other boy with it, some rocker’s son.)
I can’t say I always liked my name when I was younger. But it is definitely unique. That was part of the problem. When I was a kid, it was cool to have all those kitschy little things with your name on them (not too many places personalized items as much as now), I could never find my name and that made me FEEL like a freak. Certainly not a concern when my dad named me, but there it was anyway.
Most people think my parents were either religious or hippies. The story behind it is a little more complex than that. Look up Halo Shampoo. That’s where my dad got the idea, but he didn’t choose it *because* of the shampoo, he just liked the name.
Yes, it gets mispronounced. Often. Way too often. You and your children will be surprised how often people misspell it and mispronounce it. As if simply because there is a capital letter on the front, surely it cannot be pronounced simply. Or, surely, I didn’t say it correctly so they hear what they want to hear. (A collect call in Jr. High was fun. The guy thought I was saying "hello" repeatedly. He finally said, "Hello, What is your name?" "My name is HALO."
* Halo Golden. Just like a golden halo.
* Can you spell that for me?
* H, as in Halo. A, as in Halo. L, as in Halo. O, as in Halo.
But that’s only when I’m in a bad mood.
It works well for warding off solicitors on the phone. *Is HHHHHHHHaaaallllllllllllll????????? home. *No, there is no one here by THAT name. ;)
Most often I hear how beautiful it is. Lots of people love to point out what my name in reverse is: golden halo.
To answer your question, no, I didn’t search the phonebook for my husband. However, I would not have changed my name if his last name had not been Golden. I would have kept my maiden name. But, let’s be honest, how could I pass up Halo Golden?
Recently, I had a surprisingly drawn out argument with Google+ about my name. They kept insisting that my name did not conform to their "name standards." I finally had to send them a pic of my marriage license with a note over the top, "Dear Google, Stop being an [removed] and let me use my real name." That one finally worked. ;)
Good luck to all of your kiddos. To the OP, go for it! Halo is a great name. :D

My daughter is 3 yrs old and I named her Halo Olivia Park. Friends and families would make fun of her name, but to me it sounded lovely. I didn’t name her after the game, "Halo." I got the name because when I found out that I was pregnant, her dad and I went to the lake at night to get some fresh air, we both saw 2 shooting stars and I made a wish to have a baby girl. Came true and thought she was a blessing.

My sons name is Halo Preston. My wife and I decided on his name, based by the vibe we felt after spending some time with him the very first minutes after delivery. We had chosen Halo and Benji. Unlike others on this page, we didn’t name him based on what others thought. It was an amazing moment for my wife and I to spend those special moments to really name him based off our first joys as a complete family, rather than flocking with the herd and going with a mainstream name, thought up by mainstream parents. No disrespect to anyone but c’mon, Halo? It’s a no brainer for a male or female!

I love the name Halo. It is a beautiful virtue name that is SO much of a better choice than the way-too-common Hailey. I think it is a vary sweet name and I have only heard it once, and even though the girl I met named Halo was a bit annoying herself, I love her name. I really think you should use it, and I even may use it myself someday when/if I have a baby girl!

My parents arent super religious but have a knack for using out of the ordinary names. My little brother for instance is named Halo Christian Angel O’Reilly. He’s a normal little boy who seldom gets teased for his name because his personality fits his name perfectly! He’s a great kid and while i dont think he’ll be innocent forever he definitely deserves the name Halo for now

My daughter is 5yrs old. She is named Halo because she almost died as an infant so my husband says she is a fighter like the game & I say she has a Halo over her head that saved her. She has never been teased & we get compliments all the time. Everyone says it’s a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

My son is named Halo Naiche.... He is 8 years old.. He use to say he hated his name and that it was silly, but now that he is in school he likes it a while lot better... He knows when people are speaking to him etc.!! I have read that unite names help a child in the long run to become a strong person and develop a unique and strong personality.. So GO FOR IT!! name your baby what you desire....I just hope the names does NOT catch on too well or it will disappear into the Joe and Mary category...

My daughter is 8 years old and I chose the name Halo Louise after seeing her for the very first time. We call her Lolo or Lolicious I had intended to name her Chloe Kai but that just didn't fit her adorable features and sweet personality. My daughter absolutely loves her unique name and says she wouldn't ever want to change it.

I like Halo for both boy or girl.
My son's name is Halo. To me it only sounds feminine if you pair it with a girly middle name.
I really wanted a name that ended with an O.
I like that Halo is short, simple yet unique and sounds nice/cool.
