Melanie’s vs. Twin vs. Name

Hello! My husband and I are having our first set of twins. We already have a little boy Austin Cole (4). The twins are G/G and are fraternal. For one of the girls we already picked out the perfect name, Melanie Elizabeth, a name that we are not changing because my mother’s name was Elizabeth and she died of breast cancer when I was 16. We desperately need a name for her sister because they are due in 9 weeks and it has been a difficult pregnancy and I am already on bed rest. There is no preference except that we are not fans of matchy names. If middle names were included it would be appreciated! THANKS! ~ Kathleen, Chris, Austin, Melanie, and ????

You should use your name as a middle name. How about Mallory Kathleen?

Sorry.... I had suggested that before but Chris is totally against it and refuses to name our daughter that.... plus what couldm her nn be that goes with Mel/Mellie.

Mellie makes me think of "smellie"....you better make that a family-only nickname. I would hate to hear that in the schoolyard! Kids can be cruel.

Okay... Katherine is too close to Kathleen and I don’t want to use my name... I am sorry I am so picky but nothing really seems to go with Melanie IMO. I want to stress again that we like names that have nn’s that will go with melanie’s nn’s Mel and Mellie. Mallory is already out as I said before.... I love the name Rebecca but my sister Amanda already has a daughter Rebecca Grace.... Again I am sorry for being sooooo picky, I know I may get annoying but nothing seems like the perfect name for my other little girl....

P.S... I really like Samantha, Jessica, and Matilda....

Melanie and Delaney are matchy and we don’t want our girls to have matchy names... just matchy nicknames to call them around the house....

Jessica is too popular and it really isn’t pretty. I don’t really care for the names samantha or matilda either. They don’t flow with Melanie. I do like that name.

I like Camille and Alexis and Jessica is out..... my husband had a dog named Jessie and that would be way too wierd.... I really like Samantha though, also Abigail, Madison, and Andrea.... and I love the name Addison, but I have an Aunt Addie (I have a huge family!)

Alexis is the best choice. Melanie sounds like a modern fun name so you don’t want a serious old timey name to go with it. Abigail is from the 1700s and even though its pretty you should choose another name from this century.
