Middle Name vs. Help Please

We have posted a couple of times about our b/c twins. Our daughter will definitely be Caroline Olivia. (She may go by Carrie, but we aren’t sure yet.) Our son was going to be Casey Daniel, but my mom says his middle name needs to be longer (like Nathaniel) and my mother in law says it needs to be shorter (like John). What do you think--Casey 1-syllable Holder or Casey 3-syllable Holder? I will list some possible names in the first comment, but we can always use more suggestions. Thanks.

Long middles we like:
Nathaniel
Nicholas
Alexander (may not work w/last name, though)

Short names we like:
Brett
Luke
Trent
Mark
Wayne
Lee
Chance

What do you think--or does Casey Daniel Holder sound okay? Also, please give other suggestions for 1 or 3 syllable options. Thanks!

I agree with your mom. Longer middle name. Nathaniel would be good. Alexander. Julian.

I don’t care for Casey Daniel Holder, the way it’s 2-2-2 and they’re all the same pattern of syllables, too (STRESS, unstress). It sounds kind of boring.
Not Wayne for the mn! http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2006/09/28/the-next-time-your-daughter-brings-home-a-new-boyfriend-be-sure-to-ask-his-middle-name/

I think Casey Nathaniel Holder has the best flow. But, Casey Daniel isn’t bad. If that’s what you like the best, then that’s what you should use. GL!

I think you need to go with your mom, and use a 3-syllable middle name. I love Nathaniel as a middle name!

We like Julian, also, thanks.

Casey Nathaniel is my favorite but Casey sounds goo with either a 1 or 3 syllable name imo. You could always go with a family name for the mn to avoid any debate between family mambers.

Well, Casey comes from hubby’s side, and Olivia comes from my side, so we don’t really want to put another one in there, since Caroline isn’t from either side.

Thanks everyone--we have decided on Casey Nathaniel Holder, and Caroline Olivia Holder. You all have been a great help! Good luck with your bundles of joy. The Holders--Mommy, Daddy, Casey and Caroline

since Casey is used almost as much for girls as boys (top 500 for both) i would avoid Casey. b/g twin names should have clear masculine or feminine sex.

Caroline and Chase
Caroline and Craig
Caroline and Connor
Caroline and Caleb
Caroline and Chisholm

Last poster--we are using Casey for family meaning, so it is staying. Thanks though.

I think Nathaniel works best as the middle name.
