Hickory vs. Yes! vs. No!

Our friends are planning to name their little boy Hickory. I absolutely hate this name, and although it isn’t my business about what they name their little boy, I’m just wondering if you guys think its a cute name or if its as atrocious as I think it is.

But that’s just my opinion =D

I just really think it’s a terrible name. Hickory? People will call him bacon, like Hickory-Smoked Bacon. Or worse -- they’ll call him Hick.

Ugh.

Well, that’s my opinion, though.

Hickory is the name of the town my family use to live, haha. It sounds very "countrified" and redneck-ish. It’s not horrible though. It’s better than Otis or something. :) gl to them.

We also used to live in Hickory (NC)--so I can’t imagine it as a name. Of course, kids are named London and Vienna now, so I guess anything goes! I do think he will be called Hick, though.

That poor child will be mocked his entire life. Although it’s not your baby, you could save your friends from regreting their choice and you could save their child. There are endless ways he will be teased: hickory tree, hickory dickory dock....

I think that i used to get spankings with a "hickory switch" and i live near Hickory NC.
I dont think its a good name.

For all of you from Hickory, NC...that’s where they are orginally from, hence the name Hickory.
