I think the best choice is to go with McKinley (like the mountain) That way there is a better chance that people will spell it right the first time.

I think that you should randomly ask 5 people to spell the name "McKinley" People that you do not know. See how they spell it. If there is any consensus, you should go with that spelling. I wouldnt do anything too weird in the spelling. It may look cute right now, but imagine how frustrated your daughter will be when she has to explain every time she says her name, "no, its spelt: M-A-K-Y-N-L-E-I-G-H" etc. I am pretty sure that she will get real frustrated really quick.

People always spell my name wrong.. it makes me sooo angry... BUT im happy that its spelt differently then everyone else.. yet its not so different that it looks stupid... i wouldnt go with Makinley...looks like "makin-lee" lol... I like McKynlie the best

These posts are pretty old, so it may be too late. Our daughter’s name will be McKynlie Grace. I love that the spelling is different and not the spelling like a last name (McKinley). I am Kellie and have always had to spell my name because people want to write Kelly and it’s never been an issue, I like that it’s not as common.

I like the middle names Rae, Rose, and Grace. I have a daughter named Sophie Rae, and I’m expecting my 2nd little girl and also am using Makinlie. My middle names were Rose and Grace. I’ve decided to go with Makinlie Grace. Although you’re taking suggestions just go with what’s in your heart. I’ve had some people try and bring me down about the names I like, just remember this is your baby :) good luck,!

My daughters name is McKinley Shea. Every day she reminds me how well that name suits her. She is a strong, beautiful little girl. If anyone ever visits Alaska they will understand the beauty of this name and not compare it to anything related to McDonalds. Good luck!

I named my son Mickenly Blayne I had a great great great great uncle named Mckinley Patrick I love the name but just want to spell it different . My son loves his name we use to call him Mic Mic when he was little . And now I have to children Mickenly and his sister Keely Alayna and sometime when Iam calling them both to come here I call them Mickeely lol I really love that Kane to it would be cute for a little girl.

We are naming our little girl McKinley as well. She is due this Fall and we did base our decision after Mt. McKinley since there is a tie between us and Alaska. Not sure if we should use McKinley or Mckinley? Thoughts?

Our daughter’s name is McKinley. I’m partial to phonetic spellings and I believe it’s a fairly unique name on its own, so it doesn’t need an unusual spelling. We picked it to honour my Scottish heritage so a different spelling wouldn’t have achieved that. Anyway, it’s a beautiful, strong name for a little girl and it suits our daughter so well!

Non-traditional spelling makes things a little more difficult for a person for the rest of their lives. It also gives the impression that your child is high-maintenance or that you as a parent thinks your kid is better than everyone else.

I plan on naming my daughter Makynli Isabella Martinez I have a hard time spelling her name but I love the way it’s spelled this way! I saw it on Toddlers and Tiaras and fell in love right away. What do you think about this way of spelling?

My daughter is McKynlea Rose. Flows nicely but people often hesitated or mis pronounced her name, the "A" really throws people off. I was going the whole Lea (Lee) like Chelsea. I get the confusion now. :(. She often gets McKynle ah. But when I named her the name was still a fairly "new" first name so she got McKenzie and McKenna a lot too. Now many people do get it right. I thought it was unique and pretty. She goes my Kyn for short.

I have a friend who named her daughter McKinley Harper...I though it was such a unique and cute name but her family hated it! But its her baby and her decision. Very adorable name for a girl.
