What do you think of the name Kenadie for our daughter? I first saw the name when watching a show on discovery health channel, and I fell in love. Lately, a lot of people have been naming their daughters Kennedy, but that spelling is very masculine - even for me! (and I’m a girl named Kyle!) Thanks!

I think I know exactly which show you are talking about on DH Chanel, and when I saw their spelling, I thought it was ridiculous! Mind you, I am NOT a fan of creative spelling on any names. Changing the spelling does not change the name in terms of how it is pronounced, or sounds to the ear. If you feel it is too masculine, then maybe you should look for a different name that you don’t need to manipulate to work for you.

I know what show you are talking about as well. That is where I first saw this name too. I love it spelled Kenadie. I think it’s so cute for a girl. I agree with you that Kennedy just looks too masculine.

No one will EVER know how to spell that name. There’s no reason to choose a name that you feel is too masculine. That means it’s not what you want. Spelling the name this way makes you look like an idiot and once you’re child is older, it makes her look that way.
The reason Kennedy looks too masculine is because it’s a SURNAME that is passed to MALES to keep family names. Kennedy looks like Kenneth, a male name. If you want a girly name, go with a GIRL name. That solves all your problems.

What if we gave her the middle name Kenadie, and give her a more formal/girly first name and just call her Kenadie or Kenna? Is that just too complicated or does that work?
