Peri vs. Pippin vs. Peregrine
We love the name Peregrine for our daughter for a couple reasons: we are Lord of the Rings fans (the books), and the meaning has very special significance to us. Is Peri or Pippin a better nickname for a girl? We will most likely call her by the nickname most of the time. Any other suggestions?

I agree that Peri sounds much better than Pippin!! Peri is actually very cute and I can see it on a little girl :)

love the name, either nn is cute- i’d probably go with Peri but it depends on her personality. Pippin is very spunky and quarky.

How about Pippa? I love, love, love Pippa.
Peri and Pippin both sound like boys’ names to me, and the latter reminds me of the Charles Dicken’s reference rather than lotr. I also know a little boy named Peregrine, although it’s obviously not common for either gender!
I also know a little girl named Erewyn (air-a-win) which I think was some sort of lotr tribute.
I think it’s very pretty and certainly unusual.
