I voted for Davey but I prefer Davie like the first poster suggested ... David with Davie as the nn would be even better

Davie. But only as a nickname for David or Dave. I wouldn’t use it as a first name.

David would be the first name. I just don’t know which way to spell Davy/Davey. I don’t really care for Davie.

I go by Dave, but a lot of people call me Davey. That’s how they spell it.

English teacher say that in general an "e" near the end of the word will cause an "a" at the beginning to have the sound of the name of the letter and not the sound of the letter. So it would be Davey as the nickname for David and he "a" is pronounced the same as the name of the letter "a". On the other hand Davy might be a nickname for Davinia and the first "a" in this case uses the phonetic sound for "a" (ah). Something like that.
