Alira or Alirah vs. Aleera or Aleara vs. Aleira

Hi, my husband and I came up with a name we love but aren’t sure how to spell it. It’s not in our baby name book. I googled it, and their are people with these names and all four of these spellings. How would you spell it to get the pronouciation (uh-LEER-uh). LEER part rhymes with clear or Greer. Thanks!

If your already making polls how to pronounce and spell this name, chances are everybody else will ask these same ?’s too. My suggestion is to avoid the name all together.

Aleirah is my vote, beautiful name btw, GL!

When in doubt, go with the simplest choice.

I think Alira looks pretty, and is likely to be pronounced correctly most of the time.

Alyra might be another option.

I think the ee, ea, and ei options are more likekly to be mispronunced and look more confusing than need be. Aleirah is just crazy....poor kid would never learn to spell it-lol.

Aleirah is how you spell my name, but sometimes it can be spelt Aleriah too. Some say it is Russian, other say it is Irish. My last name is Irish. Lei is Hawaiian though. SO who knows, but lots of people love my name, so it is pretty nice feeling.

I had a dream when I was 19 weeks pregnant and I saw my sister write this name Aleirah. I have never seen or heard this before in my life. I didn\’t know yet at the time I was having a girl, but when we found out we were having a girl we decided to give her name as Aleirah. I think is a beautiful princess name. Princess Aleirah.

I fell in love with the name after watching Van Helsing. I\’ve always had a love for vampires and thought it was a unique and feminine name. I used it as my youngest daughter\’ s middle name but I spelled it \" Alyrah\" ... Because its so unique (spelling included), everyone loves the name. And as a previous comment stated, it is a beautiful princess name :)

My daughter’s name is Aleara pronounced as you have it pronounced, So I would go for either Aleara or Aleera, no one has trouble saying her name. With Alyra you’ll get an Uh-Lie-Ruh pronounciation alot of the time..

I just named my daughter Alira two weeks ago without even looking up the name. It was actually a combination of me and my wife’s name plus my aunt’s. Alieu that’s me, Alima, that’s wifey, and Clara is my aunt’s. I live in Africa n never heard it here. I didn’t know you wonderful people had that name. I’d go Alira any day :)

My name is Allira (pronounced uh-leer-rah) and am currently 28. I’ve always been told that my name is from one of the far northern Queensland Aboriginal mobs in Australia, with the meaning "Blue Water Lily". I’ve also been told it can mean "Blue Stone" and "Daughter" (most common) in other mobs from different parts of the country. I’ve also seen it spelt as Alira and Allirah. I’d also recently heard of the European "Aleera" but not sure of the origins.

My daughter's name is Alyra, pronounced uh-leigh-ruh she is five now and she goes by lots of nicknames, Lee, aly, Lyra, etc. I love it. Such a beautiful name. Her spelling is greek and means harp like and melodious. There was also a greek goddess named lyra.

My daughter is 12, her name is Aleera. pronounced Ah-leer-ruh. She does occasionally have someone misspell or mispronounce her name but she says it doesn't happen all the time and the most common misspelling she gets is Aleira or Aliera. The first instance of her name we ever saw was in the movie VanHelsing with Hugh Jackman. A drag queen has actually taken her name on ALL social media which is pretty bummer for her since she hadn't even had a chance to get on social media properly at 12 to have her name taken on EVERY site.

Different spellings have different meanings. I would go with the most uncomplicated for your child.
