The name Dawson might be a bit too mascueline for a cute baby girl. A better alternative might be Dylan, which is cool and androgynous but also classy.
Cute middle names for Dylan:
Jayne
Hope

Thanks for the suggestions instead of just a rude answer. We were just curious what others thought. Dylan is cute. Thanks!

Any name with "son" on the end of it means "son of", so Dawson is definately a boy’s name to me. "Mac" also means "son of", as in MacKenzie. But, I do think changing the name a bit, can make the name feminine- as you wrote "Dawsyn"- I think that definately looks more feminine. I don’t know that people will hear it as feminine, though. It could work... or maybe a bit more brainstorming on tweaking it a bit more.

No, it doesn’t. It’s a great name on a boy though.

The ending of "son" for a boy only...whatever...forget meanings of names.
Carson (can be used for a boy or a girl) means "Son of Carr" - then I guess only Dad’s named Carr can use this name??? ON a boy ONLY???
I think Dawson is cute for a girl. I like it better than Dylan. Maybe Carson or Karson/Karsen too? Maybe Dawsen???
I say go with what you like.
Best wishes.

Yeah, go with what you like, even if it’s a boyish, masculine name on a girl. That’s fine...the kid is the one who will be stuck with a name she doesn’t like for her whole life though!

I like it better on a girl than a boy. To me it is not a very masculine no matter the meaning. Way better for a girl!

My daughter’s name is Dawsyn Noelle. She is beautiful, smart, and amazingly strong! And I could not imagine her with any other name.

I'm a girl and my name is Dawsan
My name is Dawson and I am actually a girl! I like how unique it is for a girl, even though many people disagree, thinking it is too "masculine". That just gives me a chance to prove I'm not just a "cute baby girl"!

We are looking at Dawson for a girl. Glad to see a girl named Dawson on here who likes her name! Seeing as this original post is 10 years ago, I am curious what you went with and if your daughter likes her name or not now that she is 10! lol

First daughter name is Emerson. And she's def an Emerson. Currently pregnant and love the name Dawson for another girl hopefully, if a boy that name may suffice but May change it because I love Dawson for a girl.
