I’m not a huge fan, to be honest, but it also isn’t the worst name in the world. If you don’t like it, though, there is no reason that you have to use it. You could make it her middle name if you want.

Chevy may be over the top but there might be some car/truck names that aren’t so obvious like Sierra or Avalon that could work.

Shelby is the name of a mustang. My friend was named Shelby because her father loved cars.

It’s hard for me to believe he likes Fords and Chevys equally-most men are into one or the other.

Chevy seems especially unfortunate as it will remind folks of the middle aged, male comedian Chevy Chase, and depending on how you say it, it rhymes with heavy-not good.

Avalon and Sierra were places before they were cars, so I don’t know if you can sell your dh on them, but they are pretty names.

Shelby seems the obvious solution, though it’s not a name I care for personally.

Honestly, though, I think you might point out to your husband that he has already gotten to name two sons, and that he is starting a new family and new traditions with you.
I think it’s great that you want your daughter to have a relationship with her stepbrothers, but do you really want to carry on a tradition your husband began with his first wife?

I think your daughter will thank you if you give her a prettier, more classic choice that will grow with her.
She will have her daddy’s ln regardless.

I knew a family that had the same situation...they have two boys and a girl. I cannot remember the boys’ names right off hand but I remember the little girl’s because I love her name!

Her name is Riviera and she goes by the nn of Rivi.

At least someone likes American cars. I’m surprised that Saab hasn’;t become a popular name for the daughters of yuppies!

You all are cruel. When someone asks pros and cons you should give both pros and cons , not just cons . I named my daughter Chevi Rae and no it isn’t pronounced like Chevy chase . Kids will always make fun of other kids , we cannot change that , but choosing a name based on what we think is "socially" acceptable is wrong , nor is it a way of living . Quit being so
Narrow minded . I think everyone has their own definition of beautiful and it’s up to theirself to be happy .

Amen to that Stevie Rae! We’re expecting an ivf miracle and whether it’s a boy or girl will be named Chevy/chevi. Our families have all put in their two cents-they’re all peeved because they’re not a namesake. As I’ve been reading deeper into this name debate I feel sorry for all those saying nonono, they’ve got no imagination or uniqueness. Kids will be kids and name calling will take place no matter what. Leave the dark ages people!!!

Our daughter’s name is Chevy Ella. We have only gotten complimented on our choice. My only regret is not naming her Chevrolet and calling her Chevy for short. :)

Well we named our daughter Chevy Renae Eileen and everyone we have ever met loves her name and thinks its adorable. and i think it is a good idea cuz we have done it lol i feel that more unique names are better for children rather than naming ur kid sierra or shelby or jessica i know at least 3 girls that have the same name shelby so our decision was to make her different. and that she is. Lil chev.

Okay, my name is Chevrolet (Chevy for short), and my twin brother’s name is Camaro and my sister is Malibu. I really love our family tradition, so I think naming your daughter Chevy is a wonderful idea, seeing as it will give her something in common with her brothers. :)

My name is Chevi and it’s been mostly a fantastic, positive thing. It was a little rough as a child but a great ice breaker and conversation piece as an adult.
