My sister’s name is Maura and is pronounced like Mara. I love her spelling! It is prettier than Mara and no one pronounces it wrong.

I pron. Maura like Moora- like Laura with an M, not Lora or Lara. I love Maura

I have never heard Maura pronounced like Mara.

Maybe it’s an east coast accent?

Out here, Mara would either rhyme with car or sound like air-a.

Maura is definitely like Laura with an M.

I think you need to decide which you’re after, and proceed from there.

Moira is another option, said like Maura and also Moy-ra.

Yes Maura is (Mar-uh) and Mara is (Mair-uh) like Mary. I prefer Maura.

They’re different names. I like both, but prefer Mara. I only like Mara pronounced Mar uh.
