Erin vs. Aerin
I previously had a poll about the name Erin. Is it better to keep the traditional spelling E-R-I-N, or is the spelling A-E-R-I-N ok? The second is the Tolkien Elvish version of the same name, and my husband is a great fan of Tolkien and I think it is a pretty spelling. I just don’t want my daughter to go through life with a name that looks fake and made-up!

I happen to think it’s a beautiful variation on the name. It’s pronounced the same as the more common version, but it’s unique at the same time. I say if you like it, go for it.

This is hard. I don’t think I would have known how to pronounce Aerin if you wouldn’t have said. However that may just be me. I’m not a fan of Tolkein personally, but a lot of people are. If you think that people won’t be mispronouncing it then I’d go for it. I’m a Harry Potter fan and I know if I picked a name from that I’d want to spell it the way they do.

Oh something I should add! My friends name is Erin and we had another classmate named Aaron. It got really confusing and when most people hear the name they think Aaron.

Aerin Lauder is the granddaughter of Estee Lauder and part of her huge cosmetics empire. The spelling is not only Tolkien related and is quite pretty. If you like it better, definitely choose it.

This is the first time I’ve seen the spelling, but I looks really pretty.I say go with it! My mom and two of my close high school buddies were named Erin and all of them always said they wish they could change the spelling.

Aerin is pronounced AIR-in and Erin is pronounced ERR-in. I think Aerin is soft, feminine and beautiful. Not sure of your background but Erin is a very Irish name as well, if that matters. Both pretty, but Aerin gets my vote.
