Does he like it because of the meaning, the way it sounds or both? The meaning is nice but other than that, I really dislike it. I’d only use it as a mn.

Emery means bravery and power, better than Valor and a similar meaning.

I like Vale as a nn but I would worry about teasing with the full name Valor.

It’s very similar to Valerie in terms of pronunciation. I think many people may assume his name is Valerie if they haven’t seen it spelled out.

(BTW, I pronounce Valor "val-UR", not "val-OR", where the last vowel is muted. Similarly, I pronounce Valerie "val-UR-ee")

I really like the name! It’s a name that seems to command ones attention. It is also a great name because it is not common.

I think it’s very strong and masculine. There was a DC superhero named Valor (went by several names) I picture an honorable brave young man. Maybe even in uniform. Love it.

I think it's a great name! You can call him Val. I mean hello, Val Kilmer, never once has he come across feminine. Love the name!
