Looks like mick-a-lynn either way...you asked for no negativity but why? Sometimes that is all there is, as in this case where it looks near impossible to get the pronunciation you want. Better you find that out now, isn’t it?

Mick-a-lynn is fine...vs Micah-lynn. I live in the south, so where I say Mah-kay-lynn..to you it may sound like Mick-a-lynn. I just want to know the preferred spelling. We want it to look as close to our names as possible, so you can see the family name resemblence. On negativity...I mean the nasty stuff that goes on- here at this site. We’re fine if people don’t like it, that’s why we said open to suggestions. Just not Haters or Grouchies! :)

I like the spelling Michaelyn. It keeps the most letters from your names. Also I really don’t think the pronunciation will be a problem with this because it’s very similar to the traditional spelling of Michaela which personally I have always preferred over Mckayla/Mikayla etc.

I’m from the south also, and I think Michaelyn-pronounced Mah-kay-lynn is beautiful!

I’m from Oklahoma and I don’t get Mah-kay-lynn from either of those spellings. I get Mike-uh-lynn and Mick-uh-lynn. Makaylyn looks more like the prn you are wanting but I like the name Michaela (no lyn...theres no "lyn" in the names you and hubs are wanting to use either btw so this is technically closer if that’s really what you are after). Not being rude, just point it out.

All yourchoices look and sound masculine IMO.
These are more feminine:
Michaela
Mikayla
Micaela

Well, I’m not a fan, but I Would pronounce Mikalyn as you’re intending, mainly because to me it looks like an obvious variant on Michaela/Mikayla et. al, and I’ve never heard anyone pronounce those with a Mick sound at the front.

Personally, I find them all overused and sort of wrecked with all the crazy variations.
Back when it was just Michaela, I used to like it fine. I knew a Michaela who was a minister’s daughter.

At any rate, I think I’d just go with Mikalyn or maybe Michaelin.

Michaelyn just looks wacky to me.

You could also do something like Makaelin.
I think that looks Hawaiian, but it probably would be easier to pronounce.

No matter what, you/she are going to be spelling it and pronouncing it for people, so really it’s just a matter of picking the one you like best.

The only way to give her a name that won’t be mispronounced or misspelled is to go with something entirely different, like say, Molly or Sara, but clearly, those aren’t your style.

Oh, I also know a Mikalah who mainly goes by Kalah.

So how did you spell and pronounce the name? I am a northerner ( Ohio) I have a six week old granddaughter named after my wife and myself. Spelled Michaelyn pronounced Ma- kay- lyn. Micha from Michael and elyn from Evelyn.
