I am growing to love the name (I love the name more today than yesterday) and wondered what you all thought. Is Jonah an acceptable name? Any mn suggestions? Thanks!

love it, as long as it goes well with your ln! it is a softer name, so the last name shouldn’t be too pretty or soft sounding. I tend to like super masculine fn, but Jonah is one that I really love! gl!

Thank you pp! Do you really think Jonah is too girlish? We don’t want a girly name for our son.

PP, thank you for your kind advice. Our last name is pretty harsh. I wouldn’t call it pretty at all! Thanks!

Jonah too girlish? That’s the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard. As girlish as Micah, Elijah, Isaiah, Josiah, Joshua, Noah, etc? As girly as Spencer, Ryan, James, Emerson, Tyler?

Sure, Jonah sounds soft. It’s opposite could be Beckett or Atticus. I can see a very successful Jonah. Handsome in his suit and tie.

I like Jonah Garrison the best from your narrowed list from the first poster.

I love Jonah! It grew on me when I saw Sleepless in Seattle and it was our pick for a boy last pregnancy but we had a girl. We still love it, but we’re a nickname-giving family and we dislike Joe/Joey so we probably won’t use it, but I love when other people do!

I named my son Jonah and I love the name! He’s 4 years old and as he enters school I’m realizing how uncommon the name is, but at the same time...it is not so off the wall. In case you’re curious, he is "Jonah Luke"... I’m not a big fan of multi-syllable middle names. I completely disagree about it being a "girly" name.
