honouring vs. someone

What are some different ways to honour someone? I really want to honour my grandmother in my daughter’s name, but her name was terrible and has no nice variations. And no middle name. Any ideas?? Thanks!~Marni

You could start with the same letter or use something that rhymes with it. For example if her name was Tina you could do Talia or Gina.

I like first posters suggestion

or you could use a name that she always liked but never had the chance to use!

What was her last name or her maiden name? You could incorporate that in your daughter’s name.

I would not use grandmothers name if it’s terrible and there’s no nice variations. I would use the name that she liked!

What was her name? Are you sure there are no cute variations? There are lots of different variations of names.

What is the meaning of her name? You could use a name that is cute to you but the same meaning.

You could use her initials from her fn and mn and use names you like with those initials.
Ex- Margarete Phrone old version, Mackenzie Paige, new version.

Or you could just use fn’s that start with the same letter.

I can’t help you unless I know the name. Use a name with the same meaning.

NO info here.. Sounds like a fake post!

Her first name was Gwen and her maiden name was Creighton, her married name is my surname, so I don’t really want to use that. I do like the idea of using the same meaning or the same letter. I’ll have to research those!

You could use Gail or Genevieve. I’m not sure what Gwen means, but you could just use another Gaelic name.

Also, 10th poster, a lot of polls on here get called fake because they have too much info. If little and a lot both make it fake, then what’s real?

What about... Wren?

well if you don’t like Gwen and you don’t like starting something with the same letter and you don’t like something with the same meaning i think it’ll be very hard for you to honor her.

What about Jen, Wendalyn, Vera, Jennifer, Gemma, Winnie, Gena, Wendy, Kendall, Wanda, or Jandy. (I know you said that there were no cute variations, but i thought maybe you hadn’t heard of all of these as variations, but they are all various variations on Gwen, Guinevere, and Gwendalyn)

Gwen names are actually becoming popular again. I’ve seen Gwendolyn and Gwenyth a lot lately on here. Genevieve is also really pretty and she could go by "Gen".

Gwen means "blessed ring". I can’t find any other names that mean that. But it is a Welsh name, so you could go with another Welsh name. Here’s some Welsh names:
Brynn
Cari
Meghan
Meredith
Morgan
Reese
Rhianna
Tegan

Or you could just use G names:
Gabrielle
Gemma
Genevieve
Grace

Sorry, but I dont’ like any of those names. Is there anything else with the same meaning(s)? What about other names starting with G? I like Jenny ok, but it doesn’t jump out at me. Genevieve is also ok.

My grandmother didn’t have a middle name, so having the same full initials won’t work unless I don’t use a middle name, which I do want to do.

Thanks for all the help so far!
