Jenna vs. Genna

We have decided on Genevieve and would like to consider possible nicknames. Both of us like Jenna a lot, but we aren’t sure the best way to spell it. Or should we consider spelling Genevieve with a J? It is already a difficult name to spell, so I am leaning against changing the traditional spelling.

I would go with the traditional spelling of Genevieve. Genna is a cute nickname!!

I actually know a girl named Genevieve and has always gone by Genna. Don’t change it to a J if the full name starts with a G. That will just complicate things.

I like Jenna because it’s more common but Genna is more unique. Also I wouldn’t change the traditional name but there is no problem with the nickname having a J and the full name having a G.

PLEASE don’t misspell such a gorgeous name! I think misspelling it will just make it harder. We have a 4 year old Genevieve who mainly goes by Gen. She spells her nickname but not her whole name yet. However, our 6 year old can spell Genevieve with no problem. Jenevieve with a J has always freaked me out because I found out there is an "adult star" with that spelling.

I love Genna as a nn for Genevieve. I would keep the G spelling on both. Genevieve is more common than in used to be and I think people will get Genna as a nn.
