We are starting to love this name for our soon to be baby girl. But people are saying its more of a boy name. She is a twin and the other is a boy. So would that be confusing?

Unisex names tend to come with gender confusion.

Well we might go with it anyway. We will give her a very girly middle name.

If I heard or saw Finley, I would think boy, but I know a little boy with the name. Even if you give her a girly middle name, very few people will know what it is or see it. You usually just put your middle initial.

Yes it would be confusing, but how confusing depends on what aby twin brothers name is. Also, why Finley? This is not a becoming name at all.

I find Finlee to be more of a feminine name...it does not sound masculine at all...It is on my list of favorites also..(spelled like this) It definately gets my vote!

Go for it..it is so sweet!

Hey here is an idea why not change the spelling like everyone on here seems to do, just make things a little more complicated....so how about

Phynnleigh?

Finley just seems like a really cute name to us. We just see it as more of a girl name than a boy name. We would spell it either Finley or Finlee.

Finley or Finlee is for a boy, and not attractive for either sex anyway.

you have gotten a lot of negative comments. Bottom line, though, it is your baby, and name her what you love! I named my baby Elin, even with the Tiger scandal. I love the name, and I love my baby! I am happy with my choice, and so should you. There have been much more horrible choices than a girl named Finley on this site. I think it is cute! If people can do Kamryn, Logan, and Elliot for a girl, why not Finlee?

Most people on this site do not like unisex names and even more "boys names" on girls. So with some people you are not going to win.

Another thing....while naming my daughter, Kamryn, I realized your never going to win with everyone! Your never going to find that name that everyone in the world loves. It’s impossible, everyone has their own style and opinion.

Finley/Finlee, either spelling, is adorable if you ask me! If you love it go for it, everyone who has kids got their chance to name their babies, now it’s your turn. Trust me if you truely love this name and don’t name her it because of what a bunch of strangers on a website say you will regret it!

Just my thoughts! Best of luck and congrats!

I agree pp, and by the way, I was the ppp, and I LOVE Kamryn on a girl. I am tired of people saying it is trendy to do boys names on girls! Leslie, Cary, Beverly, Ashley, and Loren were all once considered boys names, but now most are widely accepted to be girls names only.

Camryn is also one of my top favorite girl names. and my name is Lauren so it fits with the once boy names and now girl names.

i think finley/finlee is a great name for either gender. it all depends on what you want to name your child.there is nothing wrong with it at all. everyone is gonna have an opinion, whether it be a good one or a bad one. There is always going to be a chance of people getting confused on her gender no matter what the spelling, trust me,my daughter’s name is Rylee and whenever i would have to make her an appointment(especially over the phone)they would think that she was a he,but after awhile you don’t get bothered by it anymore.

People come on this site for opinions, Kris. Why wouldn’t she care what a "bunch of strangers think?" Isn’t that why she posted.

Anyways, I like Finley for either sex, however, if it is boy/girl twins, it might be best to stay away from unisex names. What is the other twin’s name going to be?

My son is Finlee I chose to spell it this way as I do know a girl finleigh but thought the way I spelt it is boyish because of the lee in it I know lots and lots of boys called lee so that’s why I did Finlee x

We named our daughter Finlee Mae and everyone who has heard comments on how pretty it is. Funnily enough there are celebrity twin girls and one of them is named Finlee, if you like it, have it, it\’s your child not other people\’s.

Think more about how your child will like/deal with the name throughout their life than your own selfishness. Do not do them a disservice if you have any questions about it. And do not choose a name just to be defiant!

Finley is a great girls name, and if I had a girl I would name her that. It probably depends upon what part of the country that you are in. I know a little girl named Finley, and she is as spunky as the name is! Go for it!

My daughter named my granddaughter Finley with Elizabeth as her middle name and the entire family loves it. A name does not define character. “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
