Is Jordan (all spellings) vs. a boy or vs. girl?
I know Jordan/Jordyn is be coming more of a unisex name. I just want to know your opinion. Initial thoughts boy or girl? Try to just say it and not look at the spelling. For example if I were to say this is baby Jordan- do you see boy or girl.

My name is Jordan and I’m a girl. I guess that would be why if someone says baby Jordan my mind goes to pink blankets and bows. I do like the other spelling of it better: Jordyn. Or even Jordin. Though it is a unisex name, I think its being used more and more as a female name. When my mom named me that my grandmother said "that’s a boy’s name!" But honestly I think its more fitting for a girl.

Both.
I think it’s a great name for either sex.

It is one of those unisex names that is truly unisex in my mind-I don’t automatically think of either sex. Spellings can sway me one way or the other. For example, Jordyn is all girl, Jordan is more masculine in my mind.

Since this is a place/river name, I would call it one of the few ’real’ unisex names. To me, a unisex name isn’t Reilly or Tyler. It’s a thing that doesn’t have a gender. A river has no gender. A state has no gender. A trailer has no gender. A trashcan has no gender. Etc.
HOWEVER, there are just some names that sound better on one specific sex, most of the time it’s masculine. Jordan reminds me of a river, therefore it reminds me of a man. A strong man.
I’ve known two Jordan’s (one a Jordyn) and both were female. I thought it was ridiculous. Both were sort of on the ’trashy’ side. I can’t imagine misspelling a name or word to make it more ’feminine.’ I mean, come on. If you wanted a feminine name, why not choose a feminine name? That takes the point from giving your daughter a masculine name. Why not just name her Bob?
Not to get on a rant here, but this whole ’unisex’ trend is seriously sexist. People can sit there and easily name their daughter Jasper or Mason but peoples’ eyes bug out of the heads when I mention that Addison, Avery, Casey and Morgan are all on my list for my SON.

Honestly, with unisex names, I usually assume boy.

My initial thought is girl but it is unisex and would lend nicely to either sex. As for unisex names being "sexist" most people use names that they see as being gender specific. Meaning that its sound specifies what sex it should be used for. For some people names that sound "masculine" to others, might sound feminine. For example, to me Emerson is feminine and I would never use it on a boy. So I used it on my daughter. To me Addison, Avery, Casey, and Morgan all lack masculinity so they fall into a category that is more for a girl than a boy. I don’t think that anyone has a problem with you naming your son those names. It doesn’t make my eyes bulge, at least not to the extent that yours seem to at the thought of those same names being used on a girl. Truth is people who use unisex names aren’t out there to make people mad or ruin boy names. They are simply using a name that they LOVE and find beautiful for their baby girl.

I agree completely with the above pp. (and I also have a daughter named Emerson) My name is also a gender neutral name and I have never had any problems with it.
Jordan can certainly be used on boys or girls. I know more boy Jordan’s but can still see it on a girl.

I just can’t see it as one certain sex.. but that shouldn’t matter, I love unisex names.. but I think you should go with something a little more unique.. Jordan is just too common.
When naming my daughter I wanted a strong name not a feminine name, so my husband and I decided on Jordan, I honestly can not see this as a boys name to me it's to girly, but her older sisters name is Morgan and that's a boys name too and they are 2 strong minded young women their names fit them perfectly
