I’ve seen it a lot too. I really like it.

I personally think a lot of the Gracyn polls are just to get an argument started. Someone posted about using it on a girl a while back and the comments blew up with people arguing about how it was a boy’s name and so on. Now I think people are making fake polls just to get comments. *NOT SAYING ALL GRACYN POLLS ARE FAKE, BUT I THINK A LOT OF THEM ARE!* Please don’t accuse me of calling anyone a liar!

Gracyn is a cute name.Obviously it is getting more and more popular.Where have you been?
posted by Farrah :: 13 years ago | report
Yeah Greyson/Grayson/Graysen/Graycen/ are all popular.

i’ve only ever seen it on this site actually, the first poll i saw it in, the poster said that her husband thought that Greyson was a girly name, which got her thinking that perhaps it would be suitable for her daughter

I guess it’s the new "it" like the Brielle phase we went through for a while. I don’t like it on a girl--it was meant for a boy and it’s way too masculine for me, IMO. :)

We are naming our daughter Graecyn. We did a couple polls on the name and spelling. I think people do more than one poll as they narrow down spelling and middle names and such.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
I agree it is becoming more popular, but five or so polls in two days, with three right in a row does look a little suspicious.... I agree that sometime people try and get things started- I think this is the case with the name Rylan as well- also think there have been some fake multiples polls, but I have decided if I think it is a fake poll, I do not comment!
by the way, I think Greyson- boy
Graceyn- Girl
And before people start talking about how changing a spelling does not make it more feminine, think about Gene/Jean, Frances/Francis.... this is indeed the case in a lot of names- one spelling for girls, one for boys.

I didn’t realize this name was becoming popular. My Grandma’s name is Grace and we want to use it for a middle name but Elise Grace sounds rather blunt so I posted looking for a variant of the name. Please know my poll isn’t fake.

For those of you who like Gracyn, I don’t mean to offend, I’m just giving my honest opinion: I really don’t care for Gracen or any ’c’ or ’feminine’ spelling of Greyson... They all look like ’gracing’ misspelled. Greyson as a boy’s name is perfect... I really hate how people are taking strong masculine male names and slaughter them to make them a girl name. It’s awful in my personal opinion.

When I get around to having kids I don’t think there will be a safe name to give a boy that hasn’t already been taken over by the girls! lol

Hi! I saw the name Gracyn on here and started talking about it with my husband. His friend Thor is from Australia and he told us that its very popular over there. I personally like the name better on girls. And I agree with the pp about the spelling.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Not accusing anyone’s poll of being fake- ok well maybe the triplet poll, or the Miley poll, LOL, but there is a sudden bunch of posts on Grace, Gracelynn, variants of Grace in a row tonight, and multiples yesterday.BTW- my grandmother’s name was Grace, so is mine, and so is my daughter’s!
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
I personally think Greyson is a sissy name better suited for girls. Just MHO
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
I agree with Tiffany P--next thing we’ll know classic boy names that Matthew, Michael, Andrew, and Joseph will suddenly be girls names! Let’s let boys have some of these names, and there are penty of grogeous names for girls to choose from. Grayson/Greyson is a boy’s name and only a boy’s name and should stay that way.

MUM35- that was me:) That was my first time on this site now I’m addicted. I agree with my husband that Graceyn is more feminine than masculine.

I really disagree with the whole idea that this is a new trend, with girls "stealing" boys names. Girls of all generations have had names that are "boys" names. In the 40’s and 50’s, for example, Bobby Sue, Billy, and Jo were popular. So were Jean/Gene, Terry/Terri ( in other words, the spelling was changed in one name to make it feminine). Many old school boys names are now girls names- Ashley, Kelly, Shannon, Tracy, Stacy.... it is not a new trend, and it is not going anywhere. Names evolve and change.

Grayson/Greyson= BOY. Gracen/Graecyn/Graicen/Gracynn= GIRL.

Grayson is Gray-son (boy)
Gracyn is Gray-sin (girl)

Different names..
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
GreySON is NOT the same as GracYN!!!! UGH!! Some people are so hard headed.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
son names are boy names...it bothers me that people are "changing" the ending to Cyn and calling it girl...ette names are for girls
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
If you say Grayson like gray-SUN it is a boy name.
if you say it like gray-SIN it is a girl.
*im not saying they have to be spelled like this.it’s an example.
posted by kaji :: 13 years ago | report
sheesh!can we just except it and move on?PLEASE!

A guy I work with just had a girl Greycen. Same name with a dozen different spellings. I think it is still feminine sounding but I really dont care for the name.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Yeah, lets hope it isn’t the new nickname ;) but ive seen it a lot too! and to the people saying that spellings make a difference, they certainly do! They make names more trendy!

Grayson and ANY other dumb spellings--BOY!!!!!!!
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Hahahaha! I think that everybody has their own style. Just because you personally don’t like a name that doesn’t mean its a bad name. Let people like the names they like. If you don’t like it move along to the next poll.

This needs to end. It’d taking away from moms trying to name their children.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
I hope it doesn’t get popular because I love it:)

I like it too.but if everyone is going to fight about it then maybe not.this needs to end before it gets ugly.

Did you guys read that poll about the triplets who were born @ 41 weeks? I really think that was fake but didn’t want to say anything. 7lb triplets?????
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Yeah I agree with the triplet poll-seven pounders, a week late- multiples usually don’t make it to their due date, and not a c-section. Whatever.

Grayson is a "son of" name. Like Madison, Samson, and transfered last names like Johnson, Hanson, and Jenson. It literally translated to "son of the gray haired man".
Gracyn is an elaboration of Grace. It’s simply people taking the name Grace and making it longer. They sound alike, but they are different names. Naming girls Grayson/Greyson is giving a girl a boys’ name. Naming a girl Gracyn is giving her a name that is a variation of Grace. Any other spellings are either made up or different spellings of the girl version, usually. That’s really the end of the discussion. No one can control what other people name their children. We can give opinions and advice, but ultimately the only people whose kids we can name are our own.

I think its the same person making the Gracyn polls. I don’t like it at all, its a misspelled boy names.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
There’s no way its the same person. On some polls it has comments about others naming their babies Gracyn also. I think its just the new cool name. And like many people have said Gracyn is a totally different name than Greyson. So its not a misspelled boy name. Some people are just too stupid to see that. Ignorance is bliss.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
It looks and sounds ugly, imo. I don’t see the appeal.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Gracyn IS a misspelled boy name. Greyson came first, now there is Gracyn because it is sooo "cute" on a little girl. Your daughter isn’t going to be your cute little girl. Yes, it might be cute on a little girl, because little girls ARE cute, but she isn’t going to be forever! Can you see Gracyn on an adult woman or an eldery lady? I know I can’t.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
pp, I think you meant "your cute little girl forever."

I laughed trying to imagine Gracyn on a grandma!
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
I posted Gracyn because my daughter needs a yn name for her new baby girl. I found it on a naming web site. I didnt try to start trouble I just like the name! My daughter doesnt however.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
My daughter’s name is Gracyn Emily, and people seem to respond really positively to it. It’s not a misspelling of a boy’s name. It actually originated as a variation of
Grace-ann. And for all the people out there that think it’s just a response to the boy’s name Greyson, I can honestly say that I had never heard that as a boy’s name before I named my daughter.

You people are crazy as hell. W
ho the hell cares what a person decides to name THEIR child??? It’s not your child’s name so shut up.
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
I love the way Greyson/Grayson sounded but to me it sounded so much nicer than the spelling; I wanted it to reflect ’Grace of God’ more than ’son of a Grey haired man’. My husband & I thought about Gracen or Gracin (I didn’t want any thing that looked like sin). I liked ’Gracyn’! My husband spells the short name for Michael with a y instead of an i = Myke. After finding out (what I said all along) that we were having a boy he agreed to spell the name how I wanted so we went with Gracyn Phoenix James. Two middle names b/c it has become tradition in my family. My Mom thought it was a feminine spelling but it was mine & my husband’s choice and we loved it. All names appeal to different people - this is why there are so many different names. Spelling a name differently makes a name more unique or more liked to a parent, not misspelled. Giving your opinions or advice is one thing, bashing a name is just simply dumb. Ultimately the parents are the only ones who can choose the name of their child(ren).

posted by Gracyn :: 8 years ago | report
My name is Gracyn I’m a girl though. Seriously there IS a difference between the feminine and masculine versions of the name. The feminine version is pronounced grey-sin the musculan version is grey-son. (see told you haters there’s a difference)

Some of you are mean! That is why I do not have many girlfriends - many are too catty like some of you!

Gracyn is a girl’s name. my name is Gracyn. and I am a girl. I think that people do not think that girls and boys can have the same names! that is very radicles.

My daughter Gracyn was my miracle baby. Her name is so meaningful to me. Why are you people so mean and opinionated? It's really rude.
