Leigh - "Lee" vs. Leigh - "Lay"

Hi. How do you personally pronounce Leigh? I’ve always pronounced it "Lee" but my fiancee pronounces it "Lay". Ive never heard it said that way before. Its really important for me to grasp the "Lay" pronounciation because our daughters first name ends in "-lee". So tell me how you, personally, say Leigh please. Thank you.

Everybody’ effing stubborn on this one. My daughter and wife have the middle name Leigh, pronounced Lay. Has been since my wife was born. More than tired of people telling her she is pronouncing her own [removed] name wrong.

Leigh is supposed to be pronounced "lay". For example: sleigh, weigh, reign (same concept), etc.

Abeigh = ab-bay, not ab-bee
Ashleigh = ash-lay, not ash-lee

Etc.

my second name is Leigh and I’ve been pronouncing it as "Lay" ever since though I am pretty aware of the "Lee" pronounciation. I guess, there’s no right or wrong in pronouncing names. lol

Leigh is my last name and we definitely pronounce it as lay. So now you all know someone who does pronounce it this way. Which actually makes the most sense.

It's Janet Leigh (Lee) not Janet (Lay). Famous actress of the past.

I grew up with a girl named Leigh, pronounced Lee and a boy named Lee, pronounced Lee. So, I've always guessed that girls were named Leigh and boys were named Lee (Robert E. Lee, Lee Majors, etc.). 2 cents, for free. :)
