What do you think vs. of the MN vs. Edelweiss ?

What do you think? I always thought this would be such a pretty name, and flower names are so popular right now. It’s pronounced kinda like aid-le-vice if you’ve never heard it. Thanks!

I think for a middle name it is fine, but don’t use it as a first name. a middle name is a place for you to be creative and I think this name is pretty creative, GL!

I love Edelwiess. I have friends who named their daughter Edel Gwen because Weiss means white and so does Gwen.

believe it or not, I know a man with this name.... but a lady posted here a while ago. Her daughters name was Edel (pn aid-le), and she was naming the new baby Elin ( ee-lynn) I thought that was adorable....

Hmm.. isnt it a song in ’The Sound Of Music’ i could swear the dad and kids sing it with the guitar.. i dont really like it tbh but if you like it, go with it!

oh that is so cute! Edel would be so pretty! I’m not sure I want to give up on Edelwiess though, I just love it.

and yeah, there is a song called Edelwiess in the sound of music. It’s about the
flower, and the song is beautiful so... that certainly doesn’t bother me! ;-)

I think Edelweiss is perfect for a middle name. But please do not name your little girl that for a first name

lol, no no certainly not a first name. Just mn. ;-) But I’m open to som fn suggestions though. I was thinking Mary, I want something simple and classic, but uncommon and feminine. What do you think?

I actuall love Edel as a fn, or Edelweiss- better than half the names on this site.

It makes a cute and unique mn. I would never use it as a fn though. Edel is also pretty if you wanted it as a fn.

Just to clarify, the pronounciation is aid-ul-veis

Personally, I think there are prettier flower names to use.....and am I the only one who finds it odd that someone wanted her daughter to have names that meant white??

What? I don’t want to name my daughter white (well, I AM white, so it’s not like it would be super ironic or anything, but that’s totally besides that point and has nothing to do with why I picked the name) I wanted to name her after a pretty flower. Like...what? Why is that worse than Violet. Would you assume that someone wants to name their daughter purple and that’s why they picked Violet? No....

We are naming our daughter Edelweiss Elisabeth. I think it is a sweet name.

My name first name is Edelweiss and even though sometimes people don’t know how to pronounce it they always say it’s a beautiful name.
I love my name and I don’t see why some people would think it’s weird
