Gemma vs. Jemma

Please help! I have 2 weeks left! Which spelling do you like better? I’ve had several people ask me how to pronounce GEMMA. Some say it with a soft G as in GIFT, which sounds really horrible! It’s supposed to be pronounced like GEM... I think I like it spelled better with a "G", but don’t wanna confuse people! Spelling it with a "J" eliminates the possibility of it being misprounounced. What do you think??? Thanks so much!

She will always be your little "gem," why not name her that then? :)

Keep the G, it looks better! The phonetic rule is G with an a, o, i, u is mostly pn with a hard g, g with an e or y is usually soft... I think most people will get it!

Well to me, it sounds plain stupid when I say Gemma with a G like gift. So if I misprn. it once I would get it! That said, I’m going to really contradict myself and say I like the J spelling better! It makes me think of Jemma Kidd cosmetics..

G looks better! I wouldn’t worry too much about the pronunciation!

Gemma looks best and I think it would always be mispelled if you used the J

I love the name, and I much prefer the G.

You will always have to deal with stupid people in this world, but you shouldn’t let them dictate your child’s name.

Jemma looks like you don’t know how to spell, it would be much better to make other people look stupid that yourself, really, who doesn’t know how to pronounce Gemma?!

Gemma FOR SURE!!

Most of the world recognises Gemma as the true spelling and know how to pronounce it. G is classic, speaks to it’s meaning and looks softer. J, is americanised and will date.
