How do you pronounce vs. Rebecca / Rebekah?
You would think this would be a simple name to pronounce, but I’ve actually heard it pronounced 3 different ways. They are: 1. Ruh-beh-kuh (the most common), 2. Ree-beh-kuh, and 3. Reh-beh-kuh. I’m not great at spelling pronunciations, so you can ignore the last part of the name if you want; I’m mostly interested in how you pronounced that first part...Ruh, Ree (long E sound), or Reh (short E sound). And I don’t mean how should it be pronounced, but how do you personally pronounce it? Thanks.

I pronounce it kind of a combination of Ruh and Reh... Hard to explain
LOL I sound the same saying all of them. Maybe that’s just me and my darn southern accent, I don’t know but no matter how many times I say Rebecca. Rebecca. Rebecca. as I squint at the screen the sound doesn’t change. I guess it’s more or less along the lines of Reh-bek-uh.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s my name, and I get these 3 different beginning sounds all the time. It’s actually supposed to be Reh-beh-kuh, but most people say Ruh-beh-kuh. I don’t mind that, but hate it when people say Ree-beh-kuh. That drives me crazy!

I say Reh-beh-kuh. It’s my sister’s name. Ree-beh-kuh, from what I can tell, is a southern mispronunciation (some of my aunts who live in Alabama call my sister Ree-becca).

Hey-I am from the south with roots in Bama, and I say Reh/Ruh.... I think most southerners would say RUUUh-beck-uh with some southern drawl....

It has been my name for 61 years. My name is Rebecca and I say "Ree-bek-ah." It drives me batty when people make my first syllable like it is "Ruh" or "Rah."
