I was set on naming my daughter Emerald but, now I’m thinking aout using Esmeralda. Which one do ou like best?

you’re first choice has a much better flow to it, and sounds more elegant, so you should stick with your original idea

Esmerelda seems so elegant and princessy! Love it. Emerald doesn’t really seem like a name. What would you think if you met a woman and she introduced herself as Emerald?

Esmeralda sounds cartoony. I don’t mean to offend but this name sounds either very exotic (depending on your culture/ethnicity) or very trashy.

trashy? I don’t think of trashy when I here Esmeralda, I think of a beautiful, exotic name- and I love those stinkin cocoa roated almonds, and the Smore breakfast to go blend, lol

I think of the Hunchback of Notre Dame... Emerald is better in my opinion.

Poster 1- how does Emerald have a nice flow? You don’t even know the middle or last names to see if the flow is nice.

I think it is trashy. Sounds like either a teen mom who loves disney movies all too much or a mom who is trying too hard to be overly creative and different.

Emerald might be better suited for the middle name of your little girls. Cute but not oo out there as a middle name- people rarely use their middle names in daily situations.

Speaking of Apple- I know two married high school teachers who gave their daughter the middle name Apple.

Umm, I think that is a horrible thing to say- Esmeralda is a very popular name in some cultures, especially the Latina culture. I do not think teen mom AT ALL!

LOL! Apple doesn’t work at all! Just because some dumb celebrity stuck her poor child with the "name" doesn’t mean it works.
I don’t think Esmeralda is trying to be creative and different. It is an actual name. I would say that very same thing about Emerald.
Also, I am 27 and LOVE Disney movies:) I watch them with my daughter.
Poster- are you leaning towards one or the other? Need middle names? I liked Esmeralda Jade! So pretty

Esmeralda is my grandmother’s name. I think it is a beautiful name. It is not the least bit trashy. It is elegant, sophisticated and a bit whimsical. I think your daughter would be lucky to carry such a great name.

And may I point out that a lot of Disney names are used and accepted- why not Esmeralda? Because it is different?
Belle, Jasmine, Aurora- all fine!
When I think of teen mom ( although there are some very exceptional teen moms with great taste)
I think Mattycyn, and crazy things like that- NOT Esmeralda!

LOVE Esmerelda! my guidance councellor in college is named Esmerelda and goes by Esme too, and I’ve been thinking that it’s such a cool name. Exotic, but not unheard of, you know? Definitely not overly popular, but one that will grow on people the more they hear it. I love it!
(I especially love it more than Emerald.)

I really don’t get all the teen mom hate. In my occupation I am around teen moms everyday. There are plenty who are great moms. And most of their kids have "normal" names. I know grown women who give their babies worse names. Apple-Gweneth Paltrow ADULT!

I really like Emerald. People are named Ruby all the time, so what’s wrong with using Emerald? Esmeralda is too exotic for my taste and a bit long to say.

Esmeralda is a beautiful, stunning, exotic name. It makes me think of a gorgeous, confident, whimsical women. I picture a breath taking women that is green eyed, fit, tall, fair, with gorgeous, long, dark hair. Very modelesque looking. Its a name fit for a princess. Very Angelina Jolie.
