Eric James vs. Erik vs. Aeric

We’re thinking about Eric as the name for our baby because we like the sound, but I really wanted to have an "A" name to honor a relative. I then found that the name can also be spelled Aeric or Aerick, both of which I REALLY like, but my husband protests that the kid will always have to spell his name. What do you think? Which spelling is nicer? Thanks! - Diana

I agree. Eric/Erik are more well known. Could you honor the relative with the mn?

I like Erik, but if you go with one of the A spellings, I prefer Aerick. GL!

My name is Lilah and even though it is a pretty simple name, I have to spell it out for people. I think Aerick is really handsome and I would go for it.
People will argue that your child will hate having to spell his name, but at the end of the day your son wont care THAT much. Id rather be named Aerick then plenty of other names (if i was a guy!)
GOOD LUCK!

I like Aerick the best. Im actually middle naming my son Aeryx which is pronounced the same way yet spelled way more unique. GL

I love Eric (Erik is also good). It’s clean, classic, and incredibly handsome. I do think the Aeric(k) spelling has a greater potential for confusion.

If you’re not set on James for a middle name, here are some "A" alternatives:

Eric Alexander
Eric Abraham
Eric Augustus
Eric Adams
Eric Alden
Eric Ambrose
Eric Archer

Or, if you’re hoping for an "A" first name, would similar sounding Aidric or even Alistair have any appeal?

Best of luck!

I really like Eric Augustus, but I think I’ll get lots of resistance from my husband, as this was his dad’s mn which, apparently, he hated his whole life. But it sounds so handsome! Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I like Eric or Aeric (I think the k in Aerick is a bit redundant). If you’d like an A-name, Aeric is a very handsome choice! And that is my vote. GL!!
