Elizabeth vs. Alizabeth

Hi my names Renee middle name Elizabeth. A few years ago my cousin had a baby and named her Alizabeth with an A. I always wanted to name my daughter Elizabeth after me and even though that’s my cousins name I will still use it as it was my name first. But I was just wondering do you think it’s ok if I use the spelling with an A? I love it so much more than with the E. I’m not that close to my cousins I only see them once a year at Christmas. Do you think it’s ok to use their spelling? Like I said I’m using it anyway cause it was my name first. But is changing the spelling like their ok to do?

I wouldnt do it...but thats because I love it spelled with an "E". Elizabeth is a beautiful name. I would leave it as is...

The E is much better but if you want a variation of your name you could do Elisabeth.

I think you should go with E. If you go with A, you’ll no longer be naming the baby after yourself, but rather after your cousin’s daughter instead. I don’t think it’s a good idea.

I think Elizabeth spelled with an A, looks and sounds like you don’t know how to spell.

If you’re naming her for your middle name, spell it with an E. The other spelling looks like you’re just trying to copy your cousin, and your reason looks much less valid, because that isn’t your middle name.

I LOVE the name Alizabeth..that is my daughter’s name! We call her Ali! :) I, too, named her after an Elizabeth...I say go for it and spell it as you wish..don’t let other people scare/shame you out of it! :)
