Triplets! We finally have all vs. the names! But who gets which name?

It’s Robert & Michaela Farrell, again. We’ve finally decided on all the names for our triplets. All of the possible names are: Abigail Grace (for certain since we know the singleton is a girl), Daniel Joseph, Joshua David, Hannah Rose and Bethany Dawn. We finally decided on Bethany over Elizabeth because Elizabeth has so many other nickname options besides Beth, and we didn’t want other people calling her Lisa, Liz, Lizzy, etc. The only nickname we like is Beth, so we decided that Bethany would cause less of an issue when it came to an optional nickname. We’re so glad to be done with the names! It was fun, but also very difficult. However, we have one more question that we’d like some help with. If they’re BBG, then we know the order of names that we want. The girl will be Abigail Grace, the first boy out will be Daniel Joseph and the second boy out will be Joshua David. If they are all girls though, how do we decide which girl gets which name? Should we match birth order with alphabetical order, as in Abigail Grace for baby # 1, Bethany Dawn for baby # 2 and Hannah Rose for baby # 3? Or should we decide ahead of time that the identical twins get certain names? Or should we wait and decide when we see them? What do you all think? Thank you for everything! It means so much to us! ~Robert & Michaela Farrell

Hi Michaela and Robert! I love all your polls for you triplets. Are you planning on having kids after these 3?
Love all the names you picked out. I think that if they’re all girls, you should wait until you see them. Whichever looks like an Abigail will be named Abigail, whichever looks like a Bethany will be named Bethany, and whichever looks like a Hannah will be named Hannah.
If after you see them you STILL can’t decide, then I’d say do the alphebetical order thing. GL! Please tell us when you have them!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of matching birth order with alphabetical order.

We’ve love to have more children, but it has taken us three years to get pregnant (1 for each year we tried. Not bad. :) ). We love babies and children and would love to have more, but we know that it could take a while as it did this time.
We will be sure to post an announcement when they’re born. As of right now, their due day is November 19, but if they don’t come before November 6, then I will be induced. So, that’s where we are at this point. Looking forward to having them in our arms instead of haning off my belly! :)

I think the alphabetical order thing is cute, but I agree with the first poster, also. I think if you can decide just by looking at them, who’s who, then do that! Good luck and God bless!

Yep, see what they look like, and if in doubt, go in alphabetical order! So glad you went with Bethany.... but I really loved Liesl!

If you were able to have more kids, how many kids do you want?

We like the idea of seeing if they "look" like a certain name and using the alphabetical idea as a backup plan. Thanks.

We loved Liesl too. :) We finally took it out because the ending of Liesl and the ending of Farrell (Bethany Liesl Farrell) sounded just a tad awkward together. But we did love it. The names were soooo hard to decide, but we’re really happy with what we’ve agreed on.

How many? Tough question. :) We both came from a large family and we loved it, so, maybe somewhere between 5 and 8? That may not be realistic, but we can dream! :)

I like the idea of the single girl being Abigail. It seems like it’s been her name. and than looking at the other two to see who they look like.

Abigail and Bethany have the same number of letters, but Hannah has 1 less. So, I’d make Abigail and Bethany the names for the twins if they are girls, and Hannah being the singleton. But that’s just me.

I disagree with the pp. I think if you gave the twins the names Abigail and Bethany because of the fact they have the same amount of letters, it would make the singleton baby feel left out when she’s older. She already has been singled out because she’s not identical! (That would be good to me, but you know how kids are!)

That’s a good point you made. Thank you for the insight. This is tough, but we think we like best the idea of naming them what they "look" like and matching birth order with alphabetical order if that doesn’t work. Thanks!

of course, the ^^ twins could be boys, so the whole number of letters thing would not matters. To me, Hannah is a spunkier name, so I would name, if they are girls, the spunkier personality baby Hannah. Bethany sounds more quiet so, quiet baby gets Bethany, LOl!

Yes, they certainly could be boys! It would be interesting (if they were boys) to see how they looked in resemblance to their sister.

I’m sorry if it takes me a bit to respond here. I’m trying to comment on some other polls too, so I’m a little slow. Sorry.

Michaela,
Do you have any "I just have the feeling that the twins are ___?" We have four children and each time we’ve left the gender to a surprise, but each time I was right in my guess. Do you have that too?
posted by Valerie :: 13 years ago | report
It’s funny you ask that because yes, actually, I do. We don’t know the twins’ genders, but I just have a feeling that they are all girls. I’m excited to find out if I’m right or not.

You don’t seriously think they are going to "induce" you with triplets do you? They will not let you labor and try a vaginal delivery with triplets will they? I would certainly hope not! Most twins are c-sections now. I can’t imagine triplets would even be an option! I certainly wouldn’t want to risk trying a vaginal delivery with three babies! One at a time was scary enough!
