Audra vs. Audrey vs. Audriana
or Audrina. I told my mom that we were thinking about the name Audra for a girl. She said she liked it, but she would probably call her Audrey. I like Audrey and wouldn’t mind if she’s called that. I think it’s classic, but my husband is just okay about it. I’m wondering if a compromise of Audriana or Audrina would be a good idea.

Audriana is cute, but becoming very popular; second choice would be Audrina. Audra sounds a bit made-up for me..

I think family members should be calling children by their names and have respect for the parents wishes.
There is nothing wrong with Audra. If your husband does not like Audrey then his decision should weigh more than other family members. If he does not care then it will not matter as long as you like Audrey.
I am sure your Mom will be fine with it Audra. If she starts calling her Audrey just nicely remind her that Audrey is not her name and she will confuse the child.
Sometimes family members can be a bit pushy and the result is the parents do not get to call the child what they wish. Of course, their advice can be helpful and it is useful when a young mom wants to call a child a ridiculous name. However, Audra hardly falls into that category!

It’s your baby. If you and your husband love Audra, then name her Audra. Your mother already had the chance to name her kids. Neither you nor your husband should have to compromise on the name of your child because of your mother’s taste.
