Does Griffin vs. sound like vs. a dog’s name?

This is a name we’ve tossed about but I can’t seem to get past it sounding like a dog’s name to me. What do you think? What kind of little boy do you picture with this name? Last name is Paul.

I knew a guy in high school named griffin, and he was really weird :/ so i dont have a good association with the name either. But maybe if you name your boy Griffin your idea will change

if you don’t like it as much as you used to, change it. i dont think its sounds like a dogs name. Maybe you can make griffin a middle name. good luck!

I’ve never heard of a dog called Griffin....It’s a boys name or a surname in my mind.

If you’re uncomfortable with the name, trust your gut. I felt the same way about Sadie - I love the name but feel like it’s a dog’s name. I don’t think of Griffin as a dog’s name, but if you do, go with something else. Turthfully, what comes to mind for me when I hear "Griffin" is Harry Potter - think it was the name of one of the houses or something. But I don’t think of dogs.

No, it does not seem to be a dog’s name. When I think dog, I think Oakley, Rex, Bailey, Shelby, and Sandy.

i knew a guy that was named griffin, but he turned out [removed] so I don\’t have a great association with the name either. I wouldn\’t name your boy Griffin if you can\’t get past the dog thought bc when you do you might regret it if you know what I mean. Thats just my thought but it\’s a good name though.

A Griffin is a mythological beast -- part eagle and part lion.

Yes, but thats spelled Gryphon.
I think Griffin is nice, but it is a bit harsh sounding. And no dog association.
