Mae Abigail vs. Malia Abigail

I have loved the name Mae for many years now (not as a middle name but as a first name). My family called me Mae Mae when I was younger, so I have grown found of this special name. My husband likes this name, but thinks that it may be too short as a first name. He recommended the name Malia and said that we could use Mae as a nickname. I like Malia, but for some reason, it just doesn’t feel as special to me to just use Mae as a nickname. I would like to know which name you find more appealing. Abigail is not set... we have other middle names that will be in the first post. Thanks in advance. :)

Our last name is short, so we’ll probably choose a middle name with more syllables. I really like Mae Lillian! :)

My middle name is Mae and an old boyfriend if mine used to call me Mae. I really love it. It’s not short as a first name but it might sound off if your last name is just as short. I don’t understand Malia being called Mae but there’s always Maeve and Esme for the nickname.
I think you need a long name. Abigail just doesnt flow well for me.
